My name is Matej Filipič and I am a documentary photographer from Slovenia. I am fascinated by the complexity and beauty of our world, which I engage with through photography. Using it a tool of freedom and documentation, enabling me to admire and contemplate the interwoven mesh of individuals and their actions, called society. I stand as an observer, passing by, searching for humanness and character in people as well as in the things and places surrounding them. Meditating on the relationship between the personal and political, between humans and landscape. Exploring reflections of ideas encapsulated in our built reality, their role in our present and in shaping our future. Influenced by the co-dependency of the individual, metaphysical, political, and technological forces. Contextualised and limited by nature, accumulating together into the background of our existence in which I enjoy wandering.
