The light has changed, but the rocks remain the same is a journey of peace and loneliness on a small, mythical island in the Aegean sea. With its many rocks and few inhabitants, it is a place where the wind never ceases and sheep roam at night like floating spirits. Using photography as a medium for a conversation between myself and the island, the photographs gaze at its character and mystery. Seeing a reflection of my internal state in plants battling the harsh rocky landscape. Photographing calm, awe-inspiring scenes that evoke transience, insignificance, and hope. Capturing the angst and shiver of solitude in eerie moonlit landscapes and documenting the grounding and fleeting encounters with the people who call this landscape home. In essence it is a project about loss and how rudimentary contact with nature and people, a simple life with few expectations and possibilities heals our lost sense of being.
